Album Review : Katy Perry signs the liner note acknowledgements on “Teenage Dream,” her second major label album and first as a certified superstar, “Love, the new & improved Katy Hudson-Perry-Brand.” If you didn’t know about her fiancĂ©, Russell B., or the actress with her given name who beat her to fame, you might think the singer was referring to herself as a salable item. Something, perhaps, like Maybelline mascara in its familiar pink and green tube — a commodity so definitive in its category that it starts to seem original.

U2 Completing Three New Albums
U2 Have 'Three Albums Almost Finished : U2 are close to completing not one but three new albums, Bono has revealed. But as yet the band can't decide how to go about releasing them.
According to the singer, "We have 'Songs of Ascent', which is the meditative work that was meant to complement [last year's] 'No Line on the Horizon'. We've got a rock album. We also have a club-sounding album. And then we have the Spider-Man [musical] stuff," he told Rolling Stone magazine.
Coldplay's Chris Martin has offered advice to solve the problem, Bono explained. "Across those four, there are 25 to 30 songs. Now we have to decide how we go about releasing them? Do we release them in their groups? Chris Martin called me and said, 'I hear you've got all these albums going. I have a great idea. Beatles director donates archives to British Film Institute
Beatles director Richard Lester donates archives to British Film Institute : Simply titled The Beatles and Beatles Two, they form part of Lester's archive, which is all going to the BFI.
The treasures include correspondence from Hollywood stars Audrey Hepburn, Raquel Welch and Charlton Heston.
The archive also contains a "begging letter" from Spike Milligan, who offers to do laundry in exchange for a job.
The comic, who rose to fame on The Goon Show, wrote to Lester in 1980, saying he was bored with television and "no matter how small I would like a part, preferably the lead".
Milligan, who died in 2002, reminded the director he had previously worked as a "straight actor", adding: "Have own beard and wig, on site laundry done and secret masses said for Polish Catholics." Read More...
