Mining Accidents and Disasters
CNN.com - Trapped miners send video messages to families : The 33 men trapped deep in a mine in Chile since August 5 reunited Thursday with their families -- via video -- as they settled into routines while awaiting a protracted rescue, officials said.
The miners made a 25-minute, high-definition video in which each man sent a message to his family and sent it through a narrow tube to the surface from 2,300 feet below, a government official told reporters. The video was shown in a private screening for the families, many of whom have vowed not to leave their makeshift "Camp Hope" near the mine.
The official said the miners displayed the space where they live, eat, exercise and sleep.
